GIUSEPPE
PENONE
Giuseppe Penone, the artist that uses nature in relation with the human body. He uses the form of trees in particular as analogous to the human body and especially his own body. Penone also worked with marble, carved on one side to bring out thick cords, veins that echo the shapes of the trees as well as the natural development of the stone. he also captured the intricate patterns of rock and bark, skin and hair, through frottage, imprints, and photography. Then expand those details he captured through various methods on to an enormous drawing magnifying the tiny details in the process. His work affects me on a phycological level. The more I learn about the context behind each of Penone's works the more I tried to dig deep down into my own. Each materials, languages, lighting or even the space that the artist chose to uses have been considered throughly before it's presented to the public. Each element gives out its own meaning in a subtle way. He also enlighten me of how he capture the pattern of human body. Almost every details have been capture and expand through his drawing. Once portrayed on the canvas, The skin pattern almost change its visual to something else. It's barely recognisable as part of human body at the first glance. The work draw people to focus more on its details to figure out what, why and how the artwork has been made.
