JUUL
KRAIJER
Juul Kraijer is a visual artist who has been making art through drawings, video, sculpture and photography. Most of Juul 's work gives out the feeling of eerie yet beautiful visuals involving human figure. She mostly work in black and white with the figure that looming out of the background, depersonalises the figure into an art form. The photographic series 'chimaera' consisted of deformed human figure, twisting and stretching to create the unseen details of the human body. Each movement of the muscles and bones that representing themselves on the skin has been capture through the perspective of the artist. Each picture inspired me of how the body can change with just a small movement of the structure underneath. Her work captured the details that happened on everyday basis in our life, when we move, stand, or even sleep yet no one noticed. Those details that she captured somehow similar to the process that I'm trying to do in the artwork. By focusing on the movement of our body then capture and expand those details out onto the paper and sculpture, the artwork also froze the time of the movement and represents itself to the eye of the audiences.
