FLOW

Charcoal on sugar paper, 2019

size 84.1 x 59.4 cm

At the start of unit 1 I still limit my ideas and concepts to my habit of planning things from start to the end, restricting myself to a clear picture of each organs one at a time. It took me a while to step out of the comfort zone and let the artwork speaks for itself.

As for this piece I started from the small fold of my own hands and from that part I just let myself dive down into the artworks, let things grows and flow out unconsciously.  As the artwork grows I started to notice that there are details that even myself can’t explain what it is. Somehow it just came out onto the work. I start to see the unseen beneath each elements from human or maybe it just come out of my drifted mind.

The more I drew, The more I realised that I'm starting to slowly pull out what's underneath the skin up on to the surface, twisting the from of my own hand, exaggerate the skin and stretching it to its limit. By the time I pull myself out of the drawing, I can see that the drawing itself has fill out the whole page in both positive and negative space.
